English from Mount Ida College is a Campus Bachelor English degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. The English major provides exciting opportunities for the study of language , literature, and culture. Students are introduced to significant literary works from a variety of cultures, with primary emphasis on British and American texts. Students learn to analyze fiction, poetry, and drama, to write critical papers, and will acquire the basics of professional writing. English majors have the opportunity to polish their craft in a variety of forums: the student literary magazine, Mosaic, the school newspaper, The Voice, and a number of essay contests. A senior research/writing project enables students to pursue a literary topic of interest or to produce a portfolio of creative or professional writing.
