Office Technology from Morrisville State College is a Campus Associate Management degree that prepares you for a Business career. The Office Technology program (accredited by The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs - ACBSP) is designed to give the student training in the latest office equipment and procedures for this electronic age. To supplement the regular program of study, special features emphasize word processing, (including Microsoft? Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), information processing and/or the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge in the office management fields. Office Technology is part of the ThinkPad University program, where laptop computers are integrated into the way students work, learn and live. Each student receives an IBM ThinkPad. Program graduates\\\' knowledge and experience with technology provided as a part of ThinkPad University will make them especially valuable in the workplace. Online courses ? each semester, more and more courses within Office Technology become available online to accommodate the busy schedules of today. It is the faculty?s goal to have the entire One-Year Certificate within Office Technology online by spring 2006; however, each semester we offer new and exciting courses for those individuals who may need to upgrade their skills within their job, etc. Internships are also available in order to enhance the learning experience. Articulation agreements are also in place with many area high schools. Proficiency exams are offered to those students who can test out of various keyboarding courses. Up to four credit hours may be earned by taking the keyboarding proficiency exams at the beginning of each course offering. This frees up the students\\\' schedules to concentrate on other courses, but also allows the college credit they need towards their degree . Students do not need to attend class once they pass these exams. Morrisville College now offers Medical Office courses (such as Medical Keyboarding, Medical Terminology, Medical Transcription, Medical Coding and Billing and Medical Office Procedures). Office Technology is designed for students interested in pursuing a career as an office assistant and has been considered by many to be a starting point with tremendous potential growth in any chosen field of work. Students are well prepared to take New York State Civil Service tests as well as Microsoft User Office Specialist (MOUS) exams for certification upon graduating. Each spring, the Office Technology second-year students participate in Portfolio Day. Students come out of this interview process with a better understanding and appreciation of developing good interviewing skills and portfolios.
