Religion from Morehouse College is a Campus Bachelor Religious Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. The objectives of the major in religion are (1) to develop an understanding of the world\\\\\\\'s religions as historical and cultural phenomena through the study of the various religious traditions, including their history, sacred texts, beliefs, rituals and institutions, and (2) to envelop an understanding of the fundamental role of religion in the life of individuals and of the human race. Students who major in religion will be required to complete a minimum of thirty hours of religion above the core requirements, plus six hours of cognate electives to be selected in consultation with a departmental advisor. The speech requirement is ENG 350 (Effective College Communication). In these thirty hours, students must include REL 210, REL 211, REL 220-221, REL 300, PHI 410, and REL 400. In addition to these requirements, majors in religion will be required to write a research paper in their senior year under the direction of a member of the Department appointed by the Chairperson, and in accordance with the Department\\\\\\\'s regulations.
