Nursing from Moravian College and Moravian Theological Seminary is a Campus Bachelor Registered Nurse degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. Traditional Baccalaureate Program The faculty of St. Luke?s School of Nursing at Moravian College developed an innovative curriculum leading to a Bachleor\\\'s Degree (B.S.) with the major in Nursing. The program is designed to address the changing role of the nurse within health care during the 21st century. Development of this curriculum was based on the belief that a strong background in the liberal arts is necessary to prepare professional nurses to manage current influences in health care, as well as provide care to diverse populations. Each nursing student must meet the college requirements for Learning in Common (LinC). Students also need a strong foundation in selected sciences and social sciences in order to understand the rationale for nursing care that is later developed in the clinical nursing courses. It is important for nursing students to be introduced to nursing science early in their college program. Students enroll in their first nursing course in the first semester, freshman year. As first semester sophomores, students begin clinical nursing practice courses, focusing on the various roles of nurses including practitioner, educator, counselor, coordinator, and advocate. Students not only experience care of individuals, but also focus on care of the entire family and community. The program overall includes 1020 hours in patient care settings, with additional 120 hours of simulation and laboratory practice. The final clinical course prepares the student for transition into the professional nurse role through an intensive clinical experience within the acute-care hospital setting. Baccalaureate Completion for Registered Nurse\\\'s (R.N.-B.S. Program) The R.N.-B.S. program has been developed to deliver the highest quality baccalaureate nursing education to registered nurses in a flexible format. All of the courses provided through Moravian College are designed so that they are relevant to the learning needs of adult students and the nursing courses will complement prior coursework and experience. The Moravian College R.N.-B.S. program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Prospective students may transfer in up to 16 of 32 required course units completed at two-year institutions. Additional upper-division courses completed at accredited four-year colleges and universities may also be transferable to complete degree requirements. There are no clinical clock hour requirements for RN?s in the program; however, some courses require completion of precepted project hours.
