The electrical technology program prepares individuals to install, operate, maintain, and repair electrically energized systems such as residential, commercial, and industrial electrical wiring; DC and AC motors and controls; and electrical distribution panels. Instruction in the use of test equipment and meters is included. Safety training is an integral part of the instructional program. A student completing this program should be able to enter the workforce as a second or third year apprentice or a second or first class helper, requiring one or two years of on the job experience prior to receiving first class journeyman classification, based on local methods of certification. MGCCC will administer the MS?CPAS (Mississippi Career Planning and Assessment System) prior to program completions in career and technical programs.
