Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts This four-semester program provides students with concrete knowledge of acting, directing, technical theatre, design, dramatic literature, dance and theatre history. All students must spend at least two years in residence at Minnesota State University , completing a minimum of 48 credits of coursework, an approved internship, a series of five realized production projects, comprehensive exams and a written thesis. The M.F.A. program requires a theatre history sequence and a course in theatre research and bibliography. An individual plan of study is designed with the guidance of a graduate faculty advisor to meet each student's educational needs and goals. During residence, students experience a mixture of popular and artistic theatre from True West to A Midsummer Night's Dream, from Sweeney Todd to The Wizard of Oz. Master of Arts in Theatre Arts This program is offered for students with interests in teaching, acting, directing, technical theatre, and theatre history. The MA requires 30 graduate credit hours and the completion of a thesis. The thesis must show independent thought in recognition of a clearly defined problem and in the method of its treatment.
