Doctor's degree Physiology from Medical College of Wisconsin is a Campus Ph.D Physiology degree that prepares you for a Science career. Physiology is defined as that branch of science that deals with the function of living things. The study of physiology is by tradition an interdisciplinary endeavor that uses the tools and techniques of the basic medical sciences to understand the workings of biological systems. The primary objective of our program is to provide outstanding training in the broad field of physiology, with an emphasis on the synthesis of state-of-the-art research techniques and integrative thinking, spanning the range from molecular and cellular biology to whole organ and whole organism physiology. We recognize the importance of attracting highly qualified students into the field of integrative, molecular and cellular physiology so that advances will continue in the understanding of biological systems. Students in the Physiology Department participate in a core curriculum that stresses interdisciplinary training. During the first two years, students complete coursework and focus their activities on a successful research experience in the laboratory of a faculty mentor who oversees their progress. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of graduate education is the opportunity for individuality. Within certain limits the graduate student has a wide choice of research fields, and can develop to a considerable extent his or her own special interests. Most students complete the program in four to five years. Our program stresses a collegial atmosphere where virtually all of the faculty participants have collaborations with other faculty. Many of the department's publications in peer-reviewed journals are co-authored by two or more of the faculty participants, indicating a high degree of cooperative research between laboratories. Graduate students are authors in many of these publications as well. View more details on Medical College of Wisconsin .
