Printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and Design is a Campus Bachelor Printmaking degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Students in the printmaking program take courses in etching, lithography, silkscreen, relief, photographic print processes, and drawing. They also learn monotype and woodcut as well as color separation for digital techniques. In a 9,000-square-foot common studio, students benefit from individualized attention from faculty and exposure to ideas generated by their classmates. Junior and senior printmaking majors meet together with their instructors for 9 hours per week. In the spring semester, sophomore majors participate in a seminar along with juniors and seniors, promoting vertical learning and a strong sense of community. An active visiting artist program provides supplemental workshops and technical demonstrations as well as individual critiques. In addition, the annual Master Print Series affords an opportunity for students to collaborate with classmates, faculty, and a visiting artist to produce professional-level editions for the artist. The series usually occurs over an intense four-day period and involves complex problem-solving, including the layering of multiple techniques.
