Film/Video from Massachusetts College of Art and Design is a Campus Master Film degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Through a combination of seminars and studios, students develop an informed perspective on film/video as an artistic medium and acquire advanced skills in video production practices. The faculty of the Film/Video graduate program include Ericka Beckman, Saul Levine, Gretchen Skogerson and Michelle Handelman, all of whom are committed to an experimental approach to film and to a wide range of video practice. The program's Major Studio is a critique-based class that meets weekly. Visiting artists are frequently invited to join the critique, contributing vital new perspectives and real-world experiences. In addition, graduate students may work with an adjunct advisor from among MassArt facutly or artists outside of the college to review their work on an ongoing basis each term. The program's vibrant artistic community is enriched by weekly screenings (including videos and films in the department's collection) and by visiting artists such as Callie Angell of the Andy Warhol Film Project, Andrew Bujalski, Yann Beauvais, Robert Beaver, Rebecca Baron, Martha Coburn, Ed Halter, Julie Heyward, Joe Gibbons, Jacqueline Goss, Lewis Klahr, Lynne Sachs, Gebhard Sengmueller, Deborah Stratman, Elisabeth Subrin, Tracy and the Plastics and The Yes Men. The program houses outstanding facilities and resources, including advanced film and video production equipment and non-linear and 16 mm film editing.
