Marquette University College of Nursing graduate education provides preparation for professional leadership roles in advanced nursing, nursing education and nursing research. Students obtain training in critical thinking, communication, therapeutic nursing interventions, ethical competence and multicultural competence. Our master of science in nursing program offers specialization options that include clinical nurse leader, health care systems leadership and advanced practice specialties in nurse-midwifery, children, adults, older adults and acute care. We also offer a direct entry master's program for non-nurses. Program Learning Outcomes and Performance Indicators: Students will be able to demonstrate competence in selected scope of graduate level nursing practice as evidenced by their ability to: 1. Use data and analytical processes to discover, critique, and/or synthesize nursing knowledge. 2. Apply pertinent theories and evidence from research and related disciplines to guide advanced nursing practice. 3. Use varied modes of communication effectively in leadership roles within health care and the profession. 4. Initiate, maintain, and promote intra- and interdisciplinary collaboration in providing health care. 5. Apply ethical principles to decision making in health care. 6. Provide culturally appropriate care. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) The master of science in nursing (MSN) prepares nurses for advanced roles in nursing.
