The Bachelor of Music Education program is designed to meet the certification requirements set by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Completion of the music education degree prepares students to teach both vocal and instrumental music at the kindergarten through high school levels. The music education program is accredited by NASM, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, The National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education , and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Students must successfully complete a live audition for admission to this program.Students in all music degree programs are required to complete a core of essential courses in music theory, music history and literature, applied music and piano, and they must participate in music ensembles. All music students are required to pass a piano proficiency. Each individual degree program has additional proficiency requirements to better prepare the student for his chosen field of endeavor.
