The Program The Master of Arts in Theological Studies is a 36-hour degree designed specifically to prepare non-ordained church staff, lay leadership and parachurch leaders. Courses are taught at a high level and are carefully crafted to link theoretical knowledge with real ministry situations. At every stage, students are pushed to consider the implications of their study for their own church situation. The MATS program is designed primarily to serve non-ordained church and parachurch ministry leaders; however some denominations will regard the degree as an appropriate credential for ordination.
