About: The radiographer is the producer of medical images for diagnosis of disease. Duties include: positioning of patient to obtain proper projection, aligning source (usually x-radiation), making exposure factor selections, processing the image, storing and retrieving images. Graduates are eligible to take the entry-level certification examination and are employable in radiology and medical-imaging departments in hospitals and clinics. Radiographers should be able to follow instructions carefully and work to prescribed standards, able to use good judgment in following procedures and handling problems, interested in work of a technical or scientific nature, and willing and able to work under pressure in emergency situations. Note: For clinical courses, assignments to nontraditional shifts are made to increase and diversify patient exam experiences. Students have access to clinical affiliations in Madison and Southern Wisconsin. Program Outcomes: 1. Carryout the production and evaluation of radiographic images 2.
