About: The Practical Nursing program enables the student to acquire the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes necessary to become a qualified, competent practical nurse. The practical nurse, under the general or direct supervision of a registered nurse, physician, podiatrist, dentist or optometrist, is prepared to assume responsibility for nursing in those situations relatively free of complexity and to assist in more complex nursing care situations. The program includes lectures, demonstrations and supervised practice at a variety of sites including hospitals, nursing homes, home health and family practice or community care settings. The program is approved by the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing . A student must have a grade of C or better to pass a nursing course. The graduate is eligible to write the national licensing exam (NCLEX-PN). Successful completion of the examination, as defined by the Board of Nursing, leads to licensure in the State of Wisconsin.
