Program Objective The Computer Graphics program of the Institute has an overall objective to prepare the student for an entry level position in the graphics field with an emphasis on print and web design . Students learn the principles and elements of design while creating projects on their desktop computer workstations. Students will learn how to manipulate digital images and prepare them for print or web display. They will create logos, and digital drawings using vector art programs. Desktop publishing programs will be used to create dynamic web pages with Flash animations. Students will be able to create, edit and display their own videos and motion graphics on a personal website portfolio upon graduation. Opportunities Most graphic designers work in specialized design services; advertising, printing and related support activities; or newspaper, periodical, book, and directory publishers. Other graphic designers produce computer graphics for design firms or motion picture production firms. A small number of designers also work in engineering services or for management, scientific, and technical consulting firms. Career Outlook Demand for graphic designers should increase because of the rapidly expanding market for web-based information and expansion of the video entertainment market. Graphic designers with website design and animation experience will especially be needed. The need for graphic designers also will increase as advertising firms create print, web marketing, promotional materials for a growing number of products and services.
