Gerontology Administration from Long Island University - Brooklyn NY is a Campus Master Gerontology degree that prepares you for a Science career. Social services for older adults will play an increasingly important role in the health care community as the baby boomer generation ages. Nursing homes, hospitals, senior centers and public health agencies, as well as other facilities and organizations that care for older adults, will require many more employees who specialize in dealing with the needs and the issues of the aging population. The 15-credit Advanced Certificate in Gerontology is designed to provide working professionals in agencies and in organizations serving aging populations with the knowledge and the skills needed to ensure effective service delivery to these groups. The Certificate can be earned through two different stand-alone tracks: Track 1 ? Long-Term Care Administration, which is approved by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) for the NYS Nursing Home Administrators Licensing Examination; and Track 2 ? Community Aging Services and Administration. Students in the M.P.A. Program who are taking the Advanced Certificate courses as their specialization may graduate with both the M.P.A. degree in Health Administration and the Advanced Certificate.
