School of Radiologic Technology History Long Island College Hospital (LICH) is a 601 bed teaching hospital. It has been a leader in medical education since 1958. As a primary teaching affiliate of the State University of New York, Health Science Center at Brooklyn, LICH is equipped with the latest diagnostic imaging systems in its Radiology Department. The Divisions of Radiology includes: Ultrasound, Computed Axial Tomography, Digital Subtraction Angiography, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging System. The School of Radiologic Technology was founded in 1957, and has a current approved student capacity of twenty-four (24). Its 44 years of history has made it a recognized school of clinical excellence since its establishment. The Radiologic Technology School is a hospital-based twenty-four (24) month program in the theory and clinical education of diagnostic radiology, leading to a diploma in Radiologic Technology. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Examination (ARRT). Passing this examination enables the graduate to become certified as a registered Radiologic Technologist and eligible for licensure from the New York State Department of Health. The School of Radiologic Technology is progressive and actively strives to implement the latest in the rapidly advancing field of medical imaging.
