Art & Design from Lees - McRae College is a Campus Bachelor Design degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The Art & Design program is based upon diversity and variety. Unlike other programs we do not separate components into different concentrations early on. Our students start with a strong foundation in the various mediums including 2-d, 3-d, craft, and digital. From there they build upon these to tools and combine them with practical experience to achieve their goal in a chosen concentration. The major is designed to inform, educate, and motivate students to reach their artistic potential in the Visual Arts . The goals of the program are these: 1. Empower students through an interdisciplinary approach to education of the visual arts. 2. Inform the students through liberal arts based studio education. 3. Provide an environment that encourages exploration and experimentation. 4. Inspire students to create, construct, produce, and invent creative ways of communication. Program Mission The Art & Design program is designed to inform, educate, and motivate students to reach their creative and artistic potential in the field of Visual Arts. Our faculty works closely with students to provide an education that promotes life long learning, critical thinking skills, and creative problem solving. Upon graduation, our students are prepared to explore a variety of career avenues. The Art & Design program is focused on educating students holistically. Our students learn the variety of skills needed for their major, while having the opportunity to delve deeper into a concentration based upon their strengths, empowering them to grow as an individual, as well as an artist. The goals of the program are aligned to provide students with an interdisciplinary education that illustrates the importance global history and tradition in conjunction with contemporary views and practices. This gives students the opportunity to broaden their skills in order to compete in our ever-changing diverse world.
