Candidates would be expected to hold a Master's degree and Level 5 certification. By comparing international teaching methods and outcomes, candidates learn how their global counter parts go about teaching children. Primary emphasis is on extending the candidate's content knowledge. Included is a capstone research project wherein a specific international teaching practice is examined and compared to current practices in the United States. The program features an optional travel component, immersing the educator in another country's culture of schooling for up to a full semester. Become a Teacher Leader in just 14 months Pending approval by the Georgia professional Standards Commission, completion of the program would also meet the requirements for an endorsement as a Teacher Leader. This new endorsement is designed to prepare experienced teachers for positions such as grade level and department leaders, academic and graduation coaches. The Specialist in Education program typically requires 14 months to complete. Classes start in June and finish at the end of July the following year.
