A Master's degree in History is the minimum requirement for the position of college instructor, while a double major is highly recommended as preparation for secondary teaching. JOB OUTLOOK: Overall employment of social scientists is expected to grow more slowly than average for all occupations through 2014. However, projected growth rates vary by specialty. Historians, political scientists, and sociologists will find jobs in policy or research.
