History from King College is a Campus Bachelor History degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. What is a History major? Africa, Britain, China -- these three specialties of the History department at King College show a little of our breadth. The History department offers an atmosphere where you will get to know other students and your faculty well. The department works for depth in the college classroom and extracurricular activities. As a History major, you will take a variety of courses. Topics range from the Tudor and Stewart monarchies to sub-Saharan African history to the effects of 9/11 on American politics. Your professors hold Ph.D.s from top research institutions and pursue scholarship, but are also committed to dynamic classroom teaching and careful student advising. The standard History major requires 36 semester hours of coursework. Another alternative is an Integrative trac, which streamlines double-majors in other historically-related fields such as Bible and Religion, English, Fine Arts and foreign language. The Integrative trac requires 28 semester hours in History along with 16 semester hours in the other discipline. You can also work toward Secondary Education licensure in History by adding a Secondary Education minor. Outside the classroom, the student-led History and Political Science Society arranges social events, and the department holds biannual picnics. Our majors have participated in numerous travel programs, from Austria to London to Prague. Recent internships have included work in an AIDS hospice in South Africa, the Tennessee state legislature, a living history museum, and the FBI. What can I do with a History major?
