About the Program A major in computer information systems prepares students in conceptualizing, prescribing, developing and delivering leading-edge information system applications that support business processes and management decision making. It provides students with an understanding of how technology can make a difference in organizations, and detailed knowledge of information system analysis, design, implementation, operation and maintenance. The major is broken down into two different areas of emphasis, Visual Technology (VT) and Information Technology (IT). Students interested in the VT aspect of CIS will be more focused on front-end presentation, such as web design and development. Students interested in the Information Technology aspect of CIS will delve more into networking, databases and how web-sites work behind the GUI.
