Curriculum and Instruction from Kent State University at Stark is a Campus Master Curriculum degree that prepares you for a Education career. Kent State University's master's degree program in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis on Curriculum and Teaching Studies will prepare you for leadership positions in education at local, state and national levels. Graduate studies in curriculum give you the opportunity to understand historical and contemporary influences on educational theories and research in classroom strategies, institutional goals and formation of public policy. Most importantly, the program can help you to refine and articulate your own beliefs about teaching and learning. The degree is offered as an M.A. (26 semester hours and thesis is required) or an M.Ed. (32 semester hours and no thesis is required). The degree program has six required courses with another five of your choosing. Graduate students are encouraged to explore personal interests in Curriculum and Instruction by choosing other coursework from a wide range of subject-matter and teaching topics. All requirements for the degree can be completed entirely at the Stark Campus. Graduate courses are taught by faculty members of the Graduate School of Education, Health and Human Services at Kent State Stark and typically meet one evening a week.
