Mission Statement The MBA programs at Kent State University prepare students for management and staff positions in regional, national and international organizations. Curricular and co-curricular emphases are on ethical leadership, teamwork, creative problem solving, global perspectives and skillful applications of information technology. Strategic Philosophy The professional MBA program is designed for students who pursue the advanced degree on a part-time basis while generally holding a full-time position. This program provides an integrated business curriculum with an opportunity to obtain a specialization in a functional area. By contrast, the traditional MBA program serves full-time students following the same curriculum as the professional program, but with greater emphasis on internship opportunities. The executive MBA program provides an accelerated opportunity for mid-level managers and experienced professionals to achieve the advanced degree through sequenced short duration courses. Students in this program generally develop into a cohesive unit with much group interaction as well as self teaching. Objectives To achieve the general and specific missions of the three MBA programs, the Graduate School of Management and its faculty will: adhere to a market-oriented educational philosophy where value is driven by high quality, competitive pricing, customer service and reasonable completion time. work cooperatively with other Kent State University staff engaged in developing geographically independent learning opportunities. encourage and support involvement of faculty, staff and students in projects for external communities. develop problem-solving skills and instill an appreciation for lifelong learning through a variety of teaching methods, such as case analyses, team projects, interactive computing and internships. recognize differences in the backgrounds of the various program groups by altering teaching methods. support quality intellectual contributions that encourage faculty publication and other creative activity. regularly survey employers to determine their opinions about and satisfaction with graduates. assist in improving career counseling and placement services for students. Concentrations Students may select one area of concentration or select their elective coursework from a wide array of courses in different areas of study.
