Organizational Communication The organizational communication concentration gives students the opportunity to study organizational culture and the ways in which communication occurs in organizations. Students also take coursework in business and professional communication, communication in teams, and organizational training and development. As this concentration teaches students how to function effectively in an organizational setting, it provides a solid foundation for careers in training and development, human resources or sales. This concentration also explores the latest technological developments in organizational communication, including teleconferencing, telecommuting and social networking. Public Communication Concentration The public communication concentration is great for students interested in learning why we choose to use certain types of media and not others; why we pay more attention to certain messages; and how media saturation affects us in both positive and negative ways. Students study media uses and effects, freedom of speech , persuasion and social influence, and the role of media in our personal, political and professional lives.
