History from Kansas State University is a Campus Bachelor History degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. Our program offers students from any major a rewarding educational experience. As they seek to recover and interpret the past in all of its messy and fascinating manifestations, historians read a lot, write a lot, and speak a lot; and thus the critical thinking skills history majors develop allow them to pursue successful careers not only as historians, archivists, and curators/museum professionals but also as lawyers, entrepreneurs, government officials, and leaders in the nonprofit sector. Undergraduate history majors can also enrich their experience by participating in Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society. Our twenty-one full-time faculty members are recognized leaders in their fields and have collectively written dozens of books, several of them award winners. We also emphasize and prioritize teaching, and over a quarter of our faculty have won university-wide teaching awards. The majority of our classes are small, which means that our students get plenty of attention, and undergraduate majors are assigned individual faculty advisors to help them navigate their way to successful completion of the history degree . Our major is designed to be broad, requiring students to take classes that vary widely across time and place, but the department has particular strengths in military, agricultural/ environmental, and religious history .
