Overview We are pleased to announce the start of our new Entrepreneurship major. Growing demand for programs in entrepreneurship and the desire to build an entrepreneurial culture at K-State are among the reasons for the major. The major expands on longstanding entrepreneurship initiatives by replacing the current entrepreneurship option in the Department of Management. It is the challenge of entrepreneurship educators to prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs to serve as catalysts to help sustain social and economic development. We are in a great position to lead students in fully embracing the entrepreneurial spirit. The major will teach students about the various aspects of the entrepreneurial process. They'll learn how to research and write a business plan, seek startup funding, invest in the business's future and how best to market their business. Why Choose a Major in Entrepreneurship? Entrepreneurship powers the American and global economy and is focused on opportunity recognition, creativity and innovation, and new venture creation. K-State Entrepreneurship students will develop the necessary skills to make innovative ideas become a reality, specifically by: Developing an understanding of the entrepreneurial process?from idea generation to the implementation of the new business or social venture. Gaining the ability to identify, research, and analyze potential markets that would enhance value and profitability. Developing an understanding of the concept of risk and how its effect on new ventures can be minimized.
