The objective of the program is to provide students with a program of instruction that exposes them to diverse perspectives within the field of speech communication in preparation for careers in higher education, business, law, ministry, government, and community service. The communication studies program is housed in Nichols Hall, one of the architectural showpieces of the K-State campus. Facilities include semi-private office accommodations for graduate teaching assistants, a departmental library, seminar room, and practice facilities for debate and forensics activities. The K-State campus is ideally situated for students interested in the study of political communication because of the proximity of the Eisenhower and Truman presidential libraries. The graduate program in communication studies has been recognized as one of the top graduate programs in speech communication in the midwest region.
