Objectives: To prepare students to experience worship event production in diverse settings. To enable students to demonstrate proficiency in communication arts, speech and writing, use of media and programming for the performing arts in worship. To prepare students to integrate basic Christian doctrine, the history and theology of worship and administration in church and Parachurch settings. To encourage students to develop a sensitivity to the particular needs of their congregations. To prepare students to develop an understanding and appreciation for the interrelationship of music , drama, media in supporting the worship experience. To enable students to demonstrate an ability to select, plan, produce, and evaluate worship experiences. The Worship Arts major is an interdisciplinary program grounded in communications studies, worship courses, and music course designed to equip the student to serve a local church as a worship developer and coordinator. The program consists of (1) a core that provides a foundation in communications, Bible, and music and (2) a specialty concentration to provide skills in one of the major worship areas.
