The intent of this program is to prepare students for the role of surgical technologist . Surgical technologists are allied health professionals who function as an integral part of the surgical team. They possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique. Surgical technologists who work as a member of the surgical team are responsible for preparing the sterile set-up for the appropriate surgical procedure, passing instruments, anticipating the needs of the surgeon during surgery and cleaning and preparing the operating room for the next patient.
