The Graphic and Web design program at JBU has been in existence since 1990 and is the largest major on campus with over 100 students. While traditionally the graphic design field has a print focus, in today's job market the graphic designer is frequently asked to be as well-versed in web design and flash animation as in the production of literature. We offer both. Our focus is on helping the student develop a professional portfolio which, along with their broader knowledge in design, computer graphics, and a core of liberal arts courses will serve them well in the job market. Specific courses offered include Computer Graphics, Introduction to Photography, Color Studies, Typography, History of Graphic Design , Art History, Interactive Design I, II, III, and IV and Graphic Design I, II, III, and IV among others. We give more or less equal attention to design concept and techniques. Our program is very current technologically. We have a 3-story art building which includes two 24-station Mac labs with software for design , photography, video production, 3D modeling and animation. Our building and Mac labs are available to art students 24/7. Our projects are typical design projects like logos, brochures, posters, advertising, publications, flash animations and web sites.
