Criminal Justice Law Enforcement from James A Rhodes State College is a Campus Associate Law Enforcement degree that prepares you for a Legal career. The Criminal Justice Program at Rhodes State College is designed to prepare those individuals seeking a career in the law enforcement field, while at the same time providing the student with enhanced potential for employment. This is accomplished through the two options available to students. The first option is the two-year collegiate program culminating in an associate degree . The second option is the two-year collegiate program coupled with the Police Officer College Basic Training Academy sanctioned by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy which has been fully integrated into the two-year college program. Upon successful completion of the Police Officer College Basic Training Academy, the student will receive an associate degree and upon successfully passing the state exam a letter of completion for the basic training school will be awarded. This will greatly increase the potential of the student in the employment market. Students may only begin the basic training during the fall quarter. Ohio Peace Officer Training for Certification cannot be taken through distance education. All OPOTA training must be taken in the classroom. Please contact the Chair for further clarification.
