Program Format: Campus Program Level: Bachelor

Sport Media from Ithaca College is a Campus Bachelor Public Relations degree that prepares you for a Communications career. The public's voracious appetite for sports -- fed in part by the increased coverage that cable and the Internet provide -- has in turn created an increased demand for sports communication professionals. One of the few institutions in the country to have predicted this explosive growth and to offer an undergraduate degree in sport media, Ithaca has created a program with a tailored blend of liberal arts and specialized courses. As a student in our program, you'll first obtain a thorough grounding in the ethical, cultural, historical, and economic aspects of sport. Then you'll deepen your field of study with courses -- many of them offered in the Roy H. Park School of Communications -- in advertising, public relations, marketing, sports information, sport publications, television and radio, sport promotions, and writing for publication. You'll collaborate with your professors and pursue independent studies. Fieldwork and internships at prestigious and varied sites such as the United States Tennis Association, New York Knicks, New York Jets, CBS Sports, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Madison Square Garden provide you with more hands-on learning. Graduates of our program work as media planners, producers, sports information directors, sports journalists, and specialists in public relations and promotion in such companies as ABC, Momentum Sports, Bozelle Worldwide, Westwood One, Gravity Games, the National Hockey League, and Major League Baseball.
