Composites Technology from International Yacht Restoration School is a Campus Certificate Marine degree that prepares you for a Transportation career. The marine industry is a pioneer of the composites field, and light, durable, high-performance boats were among the first products built using composite materials and processes. Today, composites are the next generation of building materials in many industries besides boatbuilding. Aircraft, automobiles, wind-turbine blades, bridges, residential and commercial buildings, and golf clubs are only a few of items that use composite materials. Today, composites are a part of everyday life. The IYRS Composites Technology program is a launching pad into this diverse field of career opportunity. The program has an intensive, nine-month schedule that goes into more depth than other training programs and blends theory with hands-on training. In the program, after students establish a foundation in traditional composites technology, they move on to the leading-edge in advanced composites. Students learn vacuum infusion processing, advanced composites molding, CAD/CAM operations, robotic CNC plug building and composites restoration practices. Graduates emerge from the program equipped to make an immediate contribution to the marine industry or other areas where qualified composites professionals are in demand. The program is divided into four course components: Composites Fundamentals, Composites Manufacturing Methods, Composites Tooling Development, and Composites Repair and Refinishing. Click here for more on each of the components. If you are new to composites technology , read more about this dynamic field?including the top five reasons you should consider this profession, and a list of FAQs about composites, their use in industry today, and IYRS training. The nine-month Composites Technology program runs from September through May at the school?s satellite campus in Bristol, a Rhode Island coastal town with a high concentration of marine companies. Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. View more details on International Yacht Restoration School .
