The program is designed to provide students that do not have prior experience in the field of Alcohol and Drug Counseling with a competency based educational program that meets certification standards in California in the most time effective manner available today. Program Objectives This program will provide the needed education and training for those seeking a new and fulfilling career as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. This course exceeds the standards of Accreditation by Commission on Alcohol and Drug Counselor Education Programs (CADCEP), and exceeds the didactic and supervised fieldwork practicum requirement standards of the California Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CCBADC), established by California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Counselors (CAADAC) for certification. After satisfactorily completing all courses, students will be able apply for the CCBADC written examination and upon passing the exam will receive the status as a Registered Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern. After completion of 4000 hours in the field, the student may sit for the Oral Board Exam and upon passing will receive the CADC I status, and after an additional 2000 hours is eligible to receive the CADC II designation. Occupational Objectives The program's goal is to provide the alcohol and drug treatment field with knowledgeable and skilled counselors. The objective is to meet the requirement and demand for certified counselors, secure employment, and provide the student will advancement opportunities.
