Visual Art Sculpture from Indiana University-Purdue University - Indianapolis is a Campus Master Sculpture degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Overview The faculty work collectively to challenge and support each student's endeavors, providing dialog and questions from a conceptual and technical standpoint. The department has an ongoing commitment to expand possibilities for the student's work through public art partnerships with corporate, city, and private organizations throughout Indianapolis. These partnerships offer rare art opportunities for students who may propose and execute public projects designed for specific outdoor spaces. Proposals that are selected are fully funded. Experimental gallery exhibitions and activities designed to engage the community through non-traditional spaces, methods, and strategies are also available. Student research is supported by a state-of-the-art facility completed in January of 2000. More than half of the 26,000- square-foot Sculpture and Ceramics Building is dedicated to the sculpture program offering students group and individual studio spaces as well as exceptional support facilities. These facilities include fully equipped shops for fabrication processes in wood and metals, foundry processes, fabrics, resins, plastics, and non-traditional materials. Digital media, such as video, sound, computer aided modeling, and drafting are available with support from faculty and staff. Other areas include exhibition and documentation spaces as well as expandable spaces capable of accommodating new and emerging media. Close working relationships with schools and departments across the IUPUI campus like University Information Technology Services, The School of Informatics, New Media, Engineering, Science and Technology, and Museum Studies, provide further resources and/or collaborative opportunities for students.
