You'll have opportunities for hands-on learning through two practicum experiences, pre-student teaching clinical experiences, and student teaching with hearing-impaired students at both the elementary and junior-senior high levels. What You'll Become The Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Deaf Education leads to certification as a teacher of the hearing impaired for kindergarten through twelfth grade. IUP graduates with this degree have a job placement rate of approximately 95 percent. IUP graduates from this program have been hired as classroom teachers in mainstream and magnet school settings and as itinerant teachers, early childhood specialists, and parent-infant specialists.
