Fine Arts from Indiana University - East is a Campus Bachelor Fine Art degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The Fine Arts department offers courses in the techniques of creating various types of art such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and commercial art. Courses in art history and art appreciation are also offered. Each year the Fine Arts department sponsors the Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition, which offers students and local artists the opportunity to enter their work in a competition judged by a nationally-known art critic. The works selected are displayed in one of several campus art galleries. IU East is also home to one of the premier visual arts centers for Wayne and surrounding counties - Whitewater Art Gallery. All exhibits are free and open to the public. The Gallery features continually changing exhibits with nine shows a year. At the Gallery, you can see exhibitions by local, regional, national, and international artists, as well as young artists from area schools.
