Description: The University offers a bachelor of science (B.S.) in information design and end-user computing (IDEC). The IDEC Program is designed to prepare well-rounded business and information technology-savvy professionals for fulfilling careers in the increasingly complex business environment. The program meets job market demands for business information technology professionals who can enhance end-user work performance by effectively managing information resources and providing end-user computing training and support. Students learn a variety of information technologies along with applications of information design and management principles to increase the usefulness and accessibility of an organization's information resources for a variety of users and purposes. The skills students gain help them manage information processing, administrative services , and staff in business and other organizational environments. Course work in the major includes a required core of business courses?plus courses in information and technology in organizations; document planning and design; spreadsheet and database applications; and managing information resources and staff. Students pursue an area of interest by selecting electives from the following areas. Accounting Business education Economics Finance Information and technology Insurance Management Management information systems Marketing Operations management and analysis A complementary business minor is recommended but not required.
