Field experiences include rural, suburban, and urban schools. Professional development opportunities include experiences in the University's Early Childhood Education Center as well as the Professional Development Schools Program, a collaborative effort between the University and five area school districts. Students also may volunteer with the Sycamore Readers Tutoring Program as well as other community agencies. A number of activities and organizations are available that enable students to interact with other students and professionals in education . These include the Indiana Student Education Association, the Student Council for Exceptional Children, and Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education . Other opportunities include the University's Honors Program and study abroad opportunities?which range from summer programs to a single semester or a full academic year in over 56 countries. In addition, the Cultural Immersion Project enables student to participate in student teaching experiences in selected countries overseas or on a Navajo Reservation domestically.
