To gain ?hands-on? experience in the field, you will take a practicum or internship. Many of our students have found positions in the local community with public and private schools, crisis intervention agencies, and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Others have spent a semester off-campus at treatment centers in Boulder, Colorado; Brainerd, Minnesota; and Morgantown, North Carolina. You may also work with your professors out of class, assisting them in their research or conducting an independent project of your own. You may even present your findings as part of our annual Research Conference, giving a presentation before an audience of faculty, fellow students, and members of the community.
