This degree program is designed for students who wish to pursue a comprehensive study of computer science that blends theory, abstraction and design in a variety of traditional and current areas. Graduates will be prepared to work for a variety of companies including those that have a scientific, engineering, or mathematical focus. It would also prepare students to pursue graduate studies in Computer Science. There are two sequences in this program: General Computer Science - is designed to prepare students to work for a variety of companies including those who have a scientific, engineering, or mathematical focus. Enterprise Computing Engineering - offers knowledge in computer architecture, networking and performance analysis in large scale computing environments. Specific Objectives The CS degree prepares graduates who: Have a comprehensive knowledge of the discipline of computer science; Are able to enter the computing profession, enter graduate study, and/or contribute to the discipline, the profession, and society; Have effective program analysis and design skills; Have effective oral and written communication skills; Can deal effectively with societal and ethical issues associated with computing; and Have an understanding and appreciation of the intellectual depth of future challenges in the theory underlying the field Career Opportunities Statistics compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and published in Occupational Outlook Quarterly project major growth in job openings for computer professionals.
