The OCC Associate in Applied Science degree in Radiography is an intensive, two-year (six consecutive semesters) course of study. The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), 20 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60606-2901, www.jcert.org. Graduates are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist's exam (ARRT). Most states, including Illinois, accept ARRT for state licensure, without additional licensure examination. Employment opportunities for radiographers are available nationwide in all types of medical health facilities and private industry. Further educational opportunities promoting career advancement are readily available. Support courses may be taken prior to admission to the program. This does not reduce the time required to complete the program or guarantee acceptance into the program. Applicants not accepted must reapply to be considered the following year. Individuals may reapply to the program as often as desired. Failure to start the program results in a loss of acceptance for admission status. Transfer students and drop/restart students will receive individual consideration, based on availability of space and continuity of the program. Requirements related to application deadlines, attendance, evaluations, and clinical performance are found in the Radiography Program Handbook and Clinical Guide which is available for review in all IECC District libraries and on the IECC website. Radiography students must pass all courses in the program curriculum with at least a C and maintain a minimum term GPA of 2.0 to proceed through the program.
