Program Information: The Accounting Clerk--Internship program is designed for students seeking immediate employment in accounting positions upon graduation. Students can qualify for employment in general bookkeeping and accounting positions or in such specialized positions as accounts payable clerk, accounts receivable clerk, payroll clerk or cashier. A special feature of this program is the internship (OFOCC 250) served in an area office during the sophomore year. Training is realistic and valuable to the student because she/he can apply classroom theory to the work situation while under the supervision of a training station supervisor and the Office Occupations Coordinator. The student receives college credit, the prevailing wage, and work experience for the internship portion of the program. This program can be completed in four semesters of full-time study or on a part-time basis if the student desires. Prospective students are encouraged to complete high school typing and bookkeeping before entering this program. Additional course work will be needed if the student has no previous typing and word processing skills. Admission to the Program: Students are expected to be computer literate and to know the Windows operating system. If this is not the case, CMGEN 110 is a prerequisite for entering this program.
