Athletic Training Education Program from Howard Payne University is a Campus Bachelor Sport degree that prepares you for a Education career. The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) at Howard Payne University provides students the opportunity to earn the Bachelor of Science degree in exercise and sport science with an athletic training specialization. The ATEP curriculum allows students to prepare for careers as athletic trainers throughout their four-year education. Students are given the opportunity to begin clinical experience as freshmen. Clinical experience includes rotations with all of HPU's NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports teams, clinical evaluations performed by the university's team physicians, and high school settings. All student clinical experiences are supervised by staff athletic trainers who are NATA-certified. Financial aid for athletic training students at Howard Payne University is available through athletic training scholarship funds and a variety of other sources. Numerous scholarships are available through the university's financial aid office. Additional scholarships are available through the National Athletic Trainers Association and Southwest Athletic Trainers Association. As are all students at HPU, athletic training students may also be eligible for financial assistance through state and federal grant and loan programs. Athletic training scholarships for athletic training students usually begin with their third semester in the program or after successful completion of all first-year admission requirements. Scholarships increase in value with each year the student remains in the program as funds become available.
