Health Information Coding from Houston Community College System is a Campus Certificate Health Administration degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The Health Information Technology Program offers students a one-year Health Information Coding Certificate . The Health Information Technician is the expert on patient data that the physicians, nurses and other health care providers rely on to perform their duties. The Health Information Technology Program trains students to perform technical health information and medical record functions in various health care facilities. These functions include: maintaining, collecting, analyzing, and coding health information. Courses have both theory and competency based educational components and are offered on campus and through the internet. Students are assigned to health information departments in the Texas Medical Center and other areas in Houston for their directed practice education classes. Students must maintain a 'C' (75%) average and meet all pre-requisites to continue in the program. A student may not earn a grade below a 'C' (75%) in HITT courses and continue in the program.
