The two-year Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program is designed to prepare individuals as competent, entry-level pre-hospital Emergency Medical Services Practitioners. The program is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP). Successful program graduates are awarded the AAS in Emergency Medical Services which enables them to qualify for licensure as an EMT-Paramedic with the Texas Department of State Health Services. Students completing this course of study are eligible to take an examination for certification as an EMT-Paramedic with the Texas Department of State Health Services and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians . The program is designed to orient students to entry and advanced-level emergency care as it relates to assessment, treatment, management, and ongoing evaluation of the critically ill and injured patients in their care.
