Art History from Hope College is a Campus Bachelor Art History degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Welcome to the De Pree Art Center & Gallery, more commonly known as De Pree. It may be your home away from home for 4 years. The Art Department moved into De Pree, a remodeled furniture factory, in 1982; so you're getting the advantages of a modern, well-equipped facility combined with the history of craftsmanship found in an older building. The Department of Art and Art History is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Course offerings in the Department of Art and Art History are structured in form, content and sequence to provide a foundation in the fine arts for both the art student and the liberal arts student. The curriculum affords opportunities for study and creative work in the visual arts through studio practice and art history. The Department of Art and Art History faculty members are teaching, producing and research oriented artists and art historians. The department offers assistantships to qualified upper level students. Students majoring in art at Hope College participate in a wide variety of activities: Apprenticeships Overseas, or in New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia Contacts with visiting artists and lecturers of national importance Field trips to museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Toledo Museum of Art .
