Fire and Emergency Services Technology from Hocking College is a Campus Associate Fire Fighting degree that prepares you for a Fire Protection career. The Fire and Emergency Services Technology prepares you to meet community needs for fire and emergency medical protection. Students may begin the program by scheduling fire courses the first year or you may choose to begin with emergency medical courses. If you begin with emergency medical sequence, you must have an Ohio EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician Basic) Certificate. The one-year Fire Fighter portion of the program offers the certification courses for Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II. Fire fighting training is conducted at the Hocking Davis Fire Training Facility. The one-year Emergency Medical portion of the program prepares you to work as a paramedic. After four quarters of emergency medicine, you may take the exam for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P). The program exceeds the national standards curriculum requirements established by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Graduates must take the National Registry EMT-P exam.
