Practical Nursing Program Conceptual Framework The conceptual framework of the Practical Nursing program is developed around the concepts of the nursing process with, problem solving techniques, critical thinking modalities and therapeutic communication awareness with sensitivity to cultural diversity and caring. Communication is a vital part of every phase in nursing care and is the method of conveying the intent of the nurse while exploring the knowledge, understanding and needs of the client. Society today is a mixture of diverse cultures and the nurse must be trained to care for a multi-ethnic group of people. In order for today's nurse to work effectively with different groups of clients, there must be an awareness and sensitivity to cultures and subcultures and the influence this has on concepts and knowledge of health practices and the acceptability of care. When the nurse remains open to learn and willing to accept the differing customs of groups of people the delivery of care becomes more therapeutic. The Practical Nursing program incorporates and enhances the philosophy of the school (parent institution). The purpose of the nursing program is synonymous with that of the parent institution. All graduates of Health Opportunity Technical Center , Inc. must have completed all requirements as set by the program in order to receive a diploma and to qualify to take the state board of nursing national licensure examination. The program will serve to meet the needs of the traditional and nontraditional student wanting to attend classes in the day, evening and weekend.
